Hey, thanks for reading! I wrote this right when the first season was out, possibly before the finale even. I do feel a little good about my speculative skills because by the end of season 2 and through all of season 3 (once the show was more secure at the network) they did start examining bad cop stories. And you're right, it was multi-episode arcs with heavy subject matter.
I didn't want to write this in the review because I think it's shitty to say one group of storytellers should be like another. But the type of procedural story I was talking about was akin to the late 80s through the 90s legal dramas, often where the police were the antagonists. The Practice immediately comes to mind. But, to keep it David E. Kelley, The Rookie is more like Boston Legal. It's not a full-on dramedy but it does like to keep it light. Still, like I said, of the cop shows that exist this is truly one of the better ones. I'm glad you like it and appreciate you reading. Cheers!
