I know the answer to your Peter Jackson question, having covered that show's backlash over at CBR! From what I understand, the Tolkien Estate and whoever is producing RoP (I forget the name) brought New Line into the project in-name-only to get access to some of the characters they had rights to. I can only guess PJ isn't involved because he would want to be involved. (Plus he was super-busy with Get Back.)

Still, of all the stuff I've read from folks unhappy with Discovery, this is one of the best. Not just because you understand how the show's intentions fit within the Trek tradition, but it's focused on your experience with the work as opposed to suggesting the work itself is "wrong" in some way.
